%A Cucculelli, Fabio %D 2019 %T Transformations of the Digital Economy. What Risks and Opportunities for Women's Work? %K %X The digital economy can represent a real opportunity to bridge gender gaps, including wage and career gaps between men and women, if we are able to move towards a new vision of economic policies, employment, education and careful training to gender and new generations. The theme is therefore not only to guarantee equal opportunities but new and different opportunities capable of enhancing the talents of women, together with those of men. An overall cultural change is needed, capable of conceiving the relationship between time dedicated to work and family in a new way, without penalizing women, as it does today, and giving men more time and responsibility in looking after children. To enhance female participation in the labor market, it is necessary to bridge the gender career gap and the gender pay gap. These two gaps generate cumulative effects during the career: on the one hand women have less opportunity to be promoted and to be able to gain the experience necessary to progress in the career; on the other, these gaps have a dampening effect on both school and academic choices and on work. The paper attempts to analyze these processes of change. %U https://digitcult.lim.di.unimi.it/index.php/dc/article/view/150 %J DigitCult - Scientific Journal on Digital Cultures %0 Journal Article %R 10.4399/97888255301557 %P 63-70%V 4 %N 3 %@ 2531-5994 %8 2019-12-31
