%A Fiorelli, Federico %D 2018 %T Technological Development and the Future of the Labor Market %K %X The paper analyzes the effects that digital technologies are producing in the labor market. Currently, these have produced a polarization of the labor market that is favoring above all non-routine workers. The economic policy prescriptions predict that this shock can be quickly reabsorbed through a modernization of the education and training paths. However, the scenarios are clearly more uncertain. According to many studies, digital technologies will produce a rapid decrease in the number of workers during the next decade, making even those skilled professions obsolete, who today see their employment opportunities and the level of their salaries increase. Consequently, will the labor market disappear due to automation? Will public authorities intervene to reduce the dangerous growth of inequalities that will arise? What kind of interventions will be necessary? %U https://digitcult.lim.di.unimi.it/index.php/dc/article/view/61 %J DigitCult - Scientific Journal on Digital Cultures %0 Journal Article %R 10.4399/978882552089710 %P 115-124%V 3 %N 3 %@ 2531-5994 %8 2018-12-23
