Massive Online Open Courses: Towards Openness

Abstract

The paper is on the phenomenon of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC) that is currently undergoing many changes. It takes into consideration the relationship of MOOCs with Open Education, Online Education and Distance Education and investigates the directions that assumes that openness in Education. They are examined the many reasons behind MOOCs, their types and forms, the positive and negative aspects of the activation of MOOCs in Universities. The paper concludes by proposing some sociocultural perspectives for MOOCs, as identified by stakeholders.
