L'articolo ha come oggetto il fenomeno dei corsi aperti online di massa (Massive Online Open Courses, MOOC) attualmente in piena evoluzione. Esso prende in considerazione il rapporto dei MOOC con l’educazione aperta (Open Education, OE), online e a distanza e indaga le direzioni che assume tale apertura in ambito educativo. Sono approfondite le molteplici motivazioni all’origine dei MOOC, le loro tipologie e declinazioni, gli aspetti positivi e negativi dell’attivazione dei MOOC in università. L’articolo si conclude proponendo alcune prospettive socioculturali per i MOOC, come individuate dai soggetti interessati.

The paper is on the phenomenon of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC) that is currently undergoing many changes. It takes into consideration the relationship of MOOCs with Open Education, Online Education and Distance Education and investigates the directions that assumes that openness in Education. They are examined the many reasons behind MOOCs, their types and forms, the positive and negative aspects of the activation of MOOCs in Universities. The paper concludes by proposing some sociocultural perspectives for MOOCs, as identified by stakeholders.
