Digital Monopolies: What to Do to Defend Ourselves
Abstract
If data are the new oil, is it necessary to regulate tech giants such as Amazon, Google, and Facebook as it has been with monopolies such as Rockefeller’s Standard Oil? This article assesses this question, and examines possible interventions to put forward in order to limit the power of new digital monopolies.
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
